1. General Manager – Infrastructure & Planning:

About the Role:

The General Manager (GM) – Infrastructure & Planning will lead and manage TransKarachi’s units responsible for:

• Civil works implementation

• Environmental and social safeguards

• Asset management

• Infrastructure planning

The GM will oversee all construction activities along Karachi’s BRT corridors, focusing on quality, durability, long-term maintenance, and adherence to occupational health and safety standards. This role requires effective management of contractor relationships and the embedding of international best practices in design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead construction implementation as per project timelines and standards

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

• Manage contractor performance and ensure high-quality delivery

• Supervise a multidisciplinary team aligned with project goals

• Monitor infrastructure for ongoing maintenance and modifications

• Promote best practices in safety, design, and delivery

Qualification & Experience:

• Education:
  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Project/Construction Management, or a related field from an HEC-accredited university. A Master’s degree and/or training in FIDIC contract administration are advantageous.
  Degrees from reputable foreign institutions will be a plus.

• Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in senior management (e.g., Director, GM)

  • At least 5 years of experience in large-scale urban infrastructure projects

  • Experience working with international financing institutions is highly desirable

2. General Manager – Operations:

About the Role:

The GM – Operations will be responsible for the seamless operation of the BRT Red Line. Key responsibilities include:

• Oversight and performance management of vehicle operations, station management, ITS, fare collection, and other related services

• Delivery and project management of the Biogas Plant under the Red Line project

• Ensuring compliance with KPIs, problem resolution, and strategic planning

Qualification & Experience:

• Education:
  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related discipline from an HEC-recognized university.
  Master’s degree and certifications/diplomas in ITS, IoT, programming, or related fields will be an advantage.

• Specialized Training:
  Courses in BRT/conventional transit operations, ITS, data management, and strategic operations planning are valued. Active memberships in related professional organizations are preferred.

• Experience:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in senior roles in mass/public transit operations in Pakistan

  • International experience is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of BRT/public transit systems and operations contracts

  • Proven leadership, analytics, and conflict resolution skills
